DAY 2

1. BREAKFAST : BUTTER KAYA BUN (KEDAI KOPI JIA HUA)

Image result for kedai jia hua kota kinabalu

This place serves local favorites like butter and kaya bun. The pillowy texture of the bun was amazing and the thick slice of butter balances the sweetness of the kaya.

For freshly baked hot buns, do drop by around 6.30am, 3.30pm and 5.30pm. These buns are not expensive at all. You may grab them at RM 1.30 each.

2. LUNCH : TUARAN MEE (RESTAURANT LOK KYUN, TUARAN)

When it comes to Sabah's local dish, Tuaran Mee is the “must eat” noodle which truly represents the latter.

Tuaran Mee which is originated from Tuaran Town, is one of the most popular noodles in Sabah. Tuaran Mee is usually fried and serve with Chun Kien slice (Sabah Hakka Spring roll), Char siu and Vegetable.

A good plate of fried Tuaran mee should be fragrant, springy and leaves an “eggy” aftertaste. If you drop by Kota Kinabalu and think which noodle dish to get, Tuaran Mee should be 1st on your list.

3. DESA DAIRY FIRM

Above the highlands of Kundasang is the Desa Cattle Dairy Farm. It is situated around 100km from Kota Kinabalu, which would take about 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours’ drive to get there.

Located at the foothill of Mount Kinabalu, Desa Cattle Dairy Farm offers one of the most amazing scenery one could imagine. If you ask me, I would say that it is more than just your ordinary cattle farm.

Typical tourism pictures. HAHAHAHA :D

4. CHECK-IN RESORT : KINABALU NATIONAL PARK

ROCK HOSTEL

If you are traveling on a budget, then you might want to consider the dormitory style accommodation of the Rock Hostel. There also twin share room options available, however all rooms have access to the common areas such as the Lounge, fireplace and pantry.
The rooms are quite basic yet still very clean and comfortable. The Rock Hostel offers a communal bathroom with hot water available. Guests are also able to make themselves hot drinks in the pantry and stay warm and cozy by the fire.

5. DINNER : 89 STATIONS (89 小吃站)

89 Station (89小吃站) is a modest eatery along the main road of Kundasang, somewhere between Kinabalu Park and Strawberry Garden Hotel. It is operated by an entrepreneur from Sandakan. The restaurant is named so because he was born in 1989.

89 Station serves a variety of Chinese stir-fried (煮炒) dishes. The menu takes advantage of fresh produce in Kundasang. For more adventurous diners, the restaurant also serves exotic meats like wild boar and venison (deer meat).
